A goal of better support for Flash and NAND systems has been around in NetBSD for quite a few years, and it looks like some progress has been made. This will add a /dev/flash and a flashctl.
the /dev/flash device would
driver provides a device-independent interface for using flash memory. and flashctl (no man page yet) seems to allow for
bad clock scans, erase the disk, read info from the device, or manually mark parts of it bad.
